Since 12 July 2007 new rules and procedures for the shipments of waste apply (EC Regulation No 1013/2006). As a result the regimes for exporting waste to non-OCED countries, such as China and India also have changed in some situations. The DG Trade of the European Commission had to adopt a new regulation in relation to these types of exports (EC Regulation No 801/2007). However, as many non-OECD countries did not yet respond to the questionnaire from DG Trade, a notice has been issued on how to deal with the current situation. Some Member States (such as the Netherlands, Belgium and the Republic of Ireland) have announced a transition arrangement for the exports of waste.
