The Shipment of Waste Enforcement Actions Project (SWEAP) was co-funded by the European Commission’s LIFE programme and coordinated by the IMPEL Network. Running from September 2018 to June 2024, the project aimed to support the circular economy by combating illegal waste trade across the EU. SWEAP’s key objectives included:
- Enhancing the skills of inspectors and law enforcement agencies.
- Strengthening collaboration at national and international levels.
- Developing innovative tools and techniques to improve enforcement.
- Creating an EU-wide dataset to support inspections.
- Providing intelligence products to tackle illegal waste shipments effectively.
AmbienDura’s Role:
AmbienDura played a crucial role in the project from its inception, contributing to the drafting of the proposal and funding application. During the project, AmbienDura was actively involved in and responsible for:
- Leading communications and networking efforts.
- Organizing and conducting capacity-building activities to enhance enforcement capabilities.
- Co-developing inspection tools to support practical enforcement actions.
